Key Lessons

Let’s summarise what we’ve learned.

Key Lessons

  • Use sound to match your task. Sounds can support different mental states like calm, creativity, or deep work:
    –  Silence: deep thinking, reading, recovery
Nature sounds / white noise: calm, soft focus
Alpha (8 Hz): relaxed focus, writing
Beta (14 Hz): energy, action mode, admin
    Theta (4 Hz): brainstorming, creativity
    Gamma (38 Hz): intense concentration
  • Your sound needs are personal. What boosts focus for one person might distract another, especially if you’re sensitive to sensory input.
  • Try different sounds for different tasks and notice what helps most; your brain’s preferences might surprise you.

Implementation Tips:

  • Use stereo headphones for binaural beats.
  • Listen for 10+ minutes to notice effects.
  • Combine with nature sounds or lo-fi music.
  • Sound may not work for everyone. Explore and adapt.
  • Build a go-to sound strategy. Create a small playlist of your favorite sound types so you can switch environments easily when your focus fades.
