Reducing muscle stiffness and increasing range of motion
Stretching is not just for athletes or people who work out regularly, it’s important for everyone. Incorporating stretching into your daily routine can help to reduce muscle stiffness and increase your range of motion. This can help to improve your overall physical performance, and make everyday tasks easier. So, take a few minutes every hour to stretch your muscles. Here are a few simple stretching exercises you can do at work:
- Neck Stretch: Tilt your head to one side, hold for 10-15 seconds and repeat on the other side.
- Shoulder Roll: Roll your shoulders forward, up, back, and down in a circular motion. Repeat five times.
- Wrist Stretch: Hold your right arm out with your palm facing down. Use your left hand to gently pull your fingers towards your body. Hold for 10-15 seconds and repeat on the other side.
- Hip Stretch: Sit on the edge of your chair, cross your right ankle over your left knee. Gently press down on your right knee to stretch your hip. Hold for 10-15 seconds and repeat on the other side.
- Hamstring Stretch: Sit on the edge of your chair and extend one leg out in front of you with your heel on the floor. Reach for your toes and hold for 10-15 seconds. Repeat on the other side.
